Privacy
Last updated: 2026-07-05
This policy covers both the Breakdex iOS app and this website (breakdex.app).
Your data stays on your phone
Breakdex is a local-first iOS app. There is no account, no login, and no server. Your clips, moves, sessions, tags, and notes are stored in the app's own database and your device's storage. They live on your phone and nowhere else. I literally cannot see your footage.
What leaves your device
Only one thing: crash reports. When the app crashes, or when you shake to report a problem, a technical diagnostic (error, stack trace, device model, app version) is sent to a crash-reporting service (Sentry) so I can fix it. Crash reports never include your videos, thumbnails, move names, notes, or any content you create. Personal identifiers are stripped before sending.
Camera & Photos permissions
The app asks for camera and photo-library access for one reason: to record and import your training clips. Those clips stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
What Breakdex does NOT do
- No account or sign-in. Nothing to breach because there's no server holding your data.
- No analytics on your content. I don't track what moves you create, what you name them, or what's in your clips.
- No ads, no ad networks, no tracking pixels.
- No AI training on your data. Your videos and moves are never used to train models.
- No selling or sharing your data with third parties.
Cloud backup (future, opt-in)
Backup and cross-device sync are on the roadmap. When they ship they'll be bring-your-own-cloud: your own iCloud, opt-in, not a server I own. You'll choose whether to turn it on.
Deleting your data
Deleting a clip removes its video file from your device. Deleting the app removes everything, because it was only ever on your phone. (Until cloud backup exists, that also means there's no copy to recover, so don't delete the app if you care about what's in it.)
This website & the waitlist
The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts.
- Waitlist: if you join, the name and email you enter are sent to this site's own form handler and stored with our email provider, Resend, and used for exactly one thing: contacting you about Breakdex beta access and updates. They're never sold or shared. Want off the list? Email [email protected] and it's deleted.
- Fonts: the site loads fonts from Fontshare and Google Fonts, so those services see your IP address when the page loads (as with any CDN request).
- Hosting: the hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, page requested) for security and abuse prevention.
Questions
This is a small beta built by one person. If you have any concern about your data, email [email protected], or shake the phone in the app to reach me directly.
