Privacy

Last updated: 2026-07-05

This is Breakdex's beta privacy policy. It accurately describes how the app and this site handle your data today, in plain language. We'll expand it into a full policy before the public App Store launch. Questions? [email protected].

This policy covers both the Breakdex iOS app and this website (breakdex.app).

Your data stays on your phone

Breakdex is a local-first iOS app. There is no account, no login, and no server. Your clips, moves, sessions, tags, and notes are stored in the app's own database and your device's storage. They live on your phone and nowhere else. I literally cannot see your footage.

What leaves your device

Only one thing: crash reports. When the app crashes, or when you shake to report a problem, a technical diagnostic (error, stack trace, device model, app version) is sent to a crash-reporting service (Sentry) so I can fix it. Crash reports never include your videos, thumbnails, move names, notes, or any content you create. Personal identifiers are stripped before sending.

Camera & Photos permissions

The app asks for camera and photo-library access for one reason: to record and import your training clips. Those clips stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

What Breakdex does NOT do

Cloud backup (future, opt-in)

Backup and cross-device sync are on the roadmap. When they ship they'll be bring-your-own-cloud: your own iCloud, opt-in, not a server I own. You'll choose whether to turn it on.

Deleting your data

Deleting a clip removes its video file from your device. Deleting the app removes everything, because it was only ever on your phone. (Until cloud backup exists, that also means there's no copy to recover, so don't delete the app if you care about what's in it.)

This website & the waitlist

The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts.

Questions

This is a small beta built by one person. If you have any concern about your data, email [email protected], or shake the phone in the app to reach me directly.
